Function and Beauty for Generations

Hi I'm Kurt,

I was introduced to woodworking as a young child in my Grandfather’s wood shop. He was a carpenter by trade and I was only allowed to use the hand tools. No power tools. Hence, I’ve been working with my hands my whole life. I am a journeyman electrician and electrical engineer by education and careers, but I’ve been woodworking as a hobby for over 20 years.

My Latest Project

This is my most recent project, an Oak Nightstand built in the Art and Craft’s style using only wood with mortise and tenon joinery (and some staples for the back). The drawers are using the Golden Ratio (1.6) for a progressive size. The Golden Ratio will add a pleasing look to most anything and I love to use it in my designs. The customer wanted a darker stain called Java for the final look. She’s very pleased, “This is so pretty! I love the drawers! They are so easy to open and close.” I used wood on wood runners with wax for the drawers.

Another happy customer and what a joy to build!
